Peter Dinklage is being wiped from Destiny, replaced by the voice of every character ever, Nolan North

From the moment he found a moon wizard, Peter Dinklage has copped a lot of flak for his voice performance in Destiny. The flat delivery was his fault, but he is playing a robot and the material he was working with wasn’t the greatest to begin with. His voice talents were notably absent from the first two Destiny expansions and now he is to be replaced for the upcoming “Taken King” expansion by the voice of Nathan Drake, Desmond Miles and literally dozens of other video game characters, Nolan North.

The news come courtesy of a Game Informer interview with Bungie’s Luke Smith, creative director on “The Taken King”. North is not only taking over the role of Ghost previously held by Dinklage but for consistencies sake he is re-recording all previous dialogue from Ghost in the game, essentially wiping Dinklage’s appearance in Destiny from record.

It is a long running point of amusement how many characters Nolan North has voiced over the years, so it is kind of fitting that he now takes the lead role in one of the biggest games of this generation in Destiny. No deeper reasons were given for the change, but my best guess would be the poor reception to Dinklage’s work plus his availability and cost make the switch to Nolan North a sensible one.
