Black Ops 3 taking cues from MOBAs for Esports modes

Call of Duty may be the most popular shooter series of the last decade but its impact on Esports isn’t as large as its status suggests it would be. Treyarch is looking to change that with the upcoming Black Ops 3, which will bring in a MOBA style ban and protect mechanic before games allowing teams to stop their opponents using certain weapons, score streak rewards and abilities.

Further enhancements to Black Ops 3 are being made with Esports in mind, including special tournament modes that place further restrictions on having duplicate specialist weapons or powers within a team, an attempt to create more diversity in team composition and create more variety in strategy.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 arrives 6 November for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.
