Use your words to avoid violence in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Deus Ex: Human Revolution was a truly great game, albeit with one glaring flaw. The boss fights were awful and designed so that the carefully crafted stealth character you’d been playing as was hopeless. The boss fights required you to use violence and in some cases it made them almost impossible. Not so in the upcoming sequel; Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Speaking with Official Xbox Magazine via Gamesradar Gameplay Director Patrick Fortier revealed that players will have myriad options to defeat bosses in Mankind Divided. “There are ways to stealth them, there are ways to beat them in combat and there are conversations you can have that maybe give you a different means of dealing with the situation altogether,” he said.

Narrative Director Mary DeMarle adds that players can choose to end boss fights non-lethally, leaving the boss character alive for the remainder of the story and thus affecting the narrative. “For Human Revolution, because of the way we designed it, [the bosses] always died in the cutscenes. You had no choice. But we rectified that in the “Missing Link” DLC, and we’ve rectified it in this game,” she said.

It sounds like Eidos Montreal learned from fan feedback from Human Revolution and will be giving players all the options they can handle with Mankind Divided, which can only be a good thing.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be available for PC, PS4 and Xbox One in 2016.
