Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes may have foreshadowed Kojima’s split with Konami

Was Hideo Kojima trying to warn fans that he would be parting ways with Konami, long before the actual event? That’s the tantalising theory being put forward by GamesRadar.

In Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, players can take part in a déjà vu mission in which Snake must use his UV light to erase the logos of every Metal Gear title directed by Kojima. On completion the player is rewarded with a message thanking them for all their support.

Recently, it was discovered that Kojima’s name had been removed from The Phantom Pain’s boxart. Additionally, the Japanese voice actor for Solid Snake confirmed that Kojima Productions has been disbanded.

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be available for PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on 1 September.
