Though development of Fallout 4 is pretty much done, the game doesn’t have any mod tools. Yet.
Speaking at QuakeCon, Bethesda VP of Marketing, Pete Hines, said they’re coming.
“Our entire focus is on finishing the game,” Hines said. “Nobody cares about mods if the game sucks. This has always been our philosophy. We shift energy to construction tools, the creation kit, and all of that stuff once the game is done, and we start to figure out what all of that is going to look like.”
Hines asserted that Bethesda’s priority at the moment is tackling the game’s bug list, polishing it and working on its frame rate.
“The idea is that [the tools] will work on all platforms, but the truth is the system doesn’t exist,” Hines continued. “It’s still being built and worked on and it’s going to take awhile. It’s going to take clearly into next year because we can’t even start it.”
A lack of mod tools hasn’t stopped one gamer from already starting to (pre-)mod the game.
Fallout 4 will be available from on Xbox One, PS4 and Windows PC. Windows PC mods will work with Xbox One.
