This ridiculous workaround can be used to make Splatoon motion-controlled for both in local 1v1

Splatoon features a local 1v1 multiplayer mode, but one player is disadvantaged; the player with the Wii U GamePad gets motion-controls alongside their analog sticks while the other does not.

That advantage ends today, with Nintendo offering up a ridiculous workaround for the problem: strap a Wiimote to your Pro Controller.

No, seriously. That’s it.

“On the controller selection screen for Battle Dojo, press and hold down on the +Control Pad, press and hold B, and then press ZR and ZL,” Nintendo’s Splatoon Tumblr states. “When using a Wii U Pro Controller, first press ZL and ZR to select that as your controller, and then press the 2 Button on the Wii Remote Plus to activate it.”

There you have it.  Splatoon launched this past weekend on Wii U.
