Users who take advantage of the free upgrade from Windows 7 or 8.1 to Windows 10 will lose Windows Media Centre support in the process, Microsoft today confirmed.
Microsoft’s Gabriel Aul confirmed the news on Twitter:
We can confirm that due to decreased usage, Windows Media Center will not be part of Windows 10.

Aul asserted that most used feature in Windows Media Centre today is DVD playback.
“If you have WMC now, we’ll have a DVD option for you in an update later this year,” Aul said. “The main scenario people used WMC for was to play DVD. We’ll provide another option for DVD playback in the future.”
We expect Windows 10 to be available in July.
