Watch: Overwatch’s Tracer is a time-travelling, pistol wielding teleporter

Blizzard’s upcoming shooter, Overwatch, has just received a new trailer, showing off Tracer.

Tracer is, according to Blizzard “an irrepressible force for good.” Her real name is Lena Oxton and her bio states that she’s the youngest to be inducted into “Overwatch’s experimental flight program.” During her maiden voyage in the teleporting jet Slipstream, the ship malfunctioned and vanished. Lena was presumed dead but returned later having had her molecular structure desynchronised with the flow of time.

Suffering from ‘chronal disassociation’, Lena was unable to maintain physical form until an Overwatch physician created the chronal accelerator; a device forcing Lena to exist in the present. The chronal accelerator also allows Lena to control time, speeding up or slowing down as she sees fit.

In-game, Tracer uses a combination of dual-wield pistols, her teleportation and time traveling abilities and a pulse bomb to defeat her enemies.

No release date has been set for Overwatch at this stage, but interested players are able to sign up for the beta through Battle.net.
