Ubisoft is leaving last-gen behind (except for Just Dance)

Ubisoft CEO Yves Gulillemot has confirmed the company will be leaving the last generation behind on an earnings call today.

As a result, only the Just Dance series will remain in development for last-gen systems with Assassin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, The Division and another unannounced project confirmed to not be cross-gen.

Strong sales of the PS4 and even the Xbox One (compared to the first year of previous generation consoles) mean some companies are accelerating their plans to abandon the previous generation. They are leaving behind the biggest userbase in gaming history but if recent numbers are anything to go by gamers have gravitated to the current systems for cross-gen titles.

It is always a business decision at heart, but one that those yet to jump in to the current generation will lament.
