The PS Vita’s firmware update 3.50 frees up 30 percent of the system memory

Last month’s firmware update for the PS Vita, 3.50, added accessibility, customisation and improved Remote Play options.

Thanks to NeoGAF we now know that at the Unite Tokyo 2015, Sony revealed the update “allows for 30% more memory size usage with games.” This should mean that while playing games on the Vita, the system has access to more memory which could conceivably see an increase in performance.

Update 3.50 removed Near, Maps and YouTube support from the handheld. Maybe with those applications gone Sony was able to re-direct memory towards gaming.
