Crytek’s self-described “huge” mystery partner may very well be retail giant Amazon.
Kotaku cited sources familiar with a deal and reported on an agreement between Amazon and Crytek over licensing of the CryEngine game engine.
The sources say Amazon has paid between $50 and $70 million USD to secure the game engine.
The report makes sense, as Amazon has recently created Amazon Game Studios, acquiring developers who’ve worked on titles like Portal, Far Cry 2, Bioshock and Left 4 Dead.
Neither company has confirmed the report.
