Netflix Australia has around 1116 titles at launch, 693 unique titles

Sydney software developer Kenneth Tsang has already analysed the content available in the Australian version of Netflix, and has found we’ve around 1116 titles at launch.

Tsang compares this to 8499 titles available in the USA, and 4400 in Canada.

“As usual, it looks like Australians are still getting less titles available,” Tsang summarised.

“One can only hope the list of titles offered by Netflix in Australia will increase as time goes on.”

Tsang has also calculated the Australian library has 693 unique titles, not available in any other region.

“The catalogue that the Australians will see on day one will improve on day 30, and day 90, or every couple of weeks – sometimes every day, as we have more content coming in,” Netflix’s Vice-President of Product Innovation, Todd Yellin, said ahead of the streaming service’s launch.

“So they shouldn’t look at it as, ‘This is what you get at Netflix?’ when they look at the catalogue on day one. They should look at, ‘Wow! This is what I get now, and that thing is just going to keep growing and getting better and better’.”

Interested parties can head to Netflix now and sign up for a free 30-day trial of any of the service’s subscription tiers. A credit card is required at sign up.
