Netflix Australia and New Zealand starts streaming from 24 March; still no word on pricing

Netflix today announced it will begin streaming in Australia and New Zealand from 24 March.

The news comes alongside the announcement of new partnerships and ANZ-faced social media accounts for the streaming service.

First, users who sign up for specific Vodafone mobile plans in New Zealand will receive several months of prepaid Netflix, whilst consumers purchasing the Xbox One in either country will receive three months prepaid access to the subscription service.

“Xbox has a long association with Netflix around the world, and with this announcement we’re excited to bring our partnership to the millions of Xbox owners across Australia and New Zealand,” said Jeremy Hinton, business group lead for Interactive Entertainment at Microsoft Australia. “With Xbox One we are committed to delivering the best entertainment experience in Australian and New Zealand living rooms.”

Netflix gift cards in denominations of $20, $30 and $50 AUD will be sold at participating Australian retailers, including Woolworths, Coles, Big W, 7-Eleven, Australia Post and Officeworks.

On social media, you can follow Netflix ANZ on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.

Netflix will offer three subscription plans in various streaming qualities, with pricing available at launch.
