Happy birthday to Sony’s PlayStation 2

The PlayStation 2 celebrated its 15th birthday yesterday, so we here at Stevivor would like to pass on belated wishes to the best selling console of all time.

First launched in Japan on 4 March 2000, it eventually made its way to Australia on 30 November 2000, priced at a whopping $749. When adjusted for inflation over the last 15 years, the PS2 would cost $1,111.58 AUD if released in 2014.

A total of 3874 games were released for the PS2 with launch titles including Tekken Tag Tournament, SSX, Ridge Racer V, Fantavision and Smuggler’s Run.

The last game released for PS2 was FIFA 14, released 24 September 2013.
