Dead or Alive tournament organiser wants to ban “over-sexualized” costumes

Dead or Alive tournament organiser ‘The HuBBs’ has taken to the FreeStepDodge forums in order to propose a ban on the game’s “over-sexualized” costumes in competitive play.

While the organiser has listed a variety of stages, characters and moves that are suggested as allowed in offline tournament play, it’s the potential ban on costumes that seem to have other gamers in a tizz.

The HuBBs suggests that over 100 costumes in Dead or Alive 4: Last Round be banned from play in order to “turn around” the game’s public image.

DOA has always been known for its over-sexualized females and just that alone has pushed people away from even trying the game,” The HuBBS wrote. “Sex Appeal in the DOA franchise will never go away but we, the community, want people to take it seriously and started the costume ban at offline tournaments to force people to focus more on the gameplay aspect of the game. This is a soft ban and is at the discretion of the TO running the game at the event. However we HIGHLY encourage people to not use the suggested costumes on stream for something like Top 8.”

What do you think of the suggestion?
