Production has started on the Assassin’s Creed movie

Production has started on the Assassin’s Creed movie, with Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot announcing the project has been given the green light on an earnings call today.

The movie is set for release 21 December 2016 and looks to have moved beyond the point of no return to actually becoming a real thing, something many other gaming franchises (like Halo) haven’t managed despite announcements, confirmations and directors signing on.

Australian director Justin Kurzel is tied to the project, along with Inglourious Basterds actor Michael Fassbender. It is rumoured to focus on the Spanish Inquisition and will include modern day elements like the games.
