Netflix adds local programming ahead of availability in Australia, New Zealand

Netflix and Beyond Distribution today confirmed that locally-produced Australian and New Zealand content will be available on the streaming service when it arrives in March.

Australian-produced content includes the Discovery Channel’s MythBusters, plus kids titles Lightning Point, H20: Just Add Water and Mako Mermaids.

Stand-up comedy by Carl Barron, Arj Baker, Kitty Flanagan, Jimeoin and the Umbilical Brothers will also be available.

“We’re excited to include these top-notch local titles on our Australian and New Zealand services,” said Sean Carey, Vice President of Content Acquisition at Netflix. “The partnership with Beyond Distribution will bring Netflix members entertainment from local shores and abroad that we know they will spend many hours enjoying.”
