Gold Mario amiibo looks set to be a Walmart exclusive in the US

Remember the rumours that Nintendo would release gold and silver variant amiibo from earlier this month? A new rumour — sprouting from a Reddit post — is now suggesting that the Gold Mario amiibo is going to be even harder to track down than originally assumed.

User pituvision posted a photo of an in-store poster claiming that Gold Mario amiibo is “Only at Walmart.” While this is certainly going to affect amiibo fans and collectors in the US it’s unclear how and if this will affect Australians. There has been a range of retailer specific amiibo in the US with Shulk appearing only at GameStop, Rosalina and Luma at Target, Lucario at Toys R Us and Meta Knight at Best Buy, but that hasn’t be the case here.

We have enough trouble in Australia with normal amiibo so, we can only imagine the nightmare that awaits though looking to get their hands on a Gold Mario.

Nintendo did announce today that more amiibo would be hitting Australian store shelves shortly.
