Windows 10 and Xbox: The Xbox One app provides streaming, sharing and more

At Microsoft’s Windows 10 event, it was announced any tablet or PC running the new OS will be able to stream Xbox One exclusives through a special Xbox One app.

The app will also provide access to your friends list, use voice chat and send messages. As such, it works best with a Xbox Live account.

Xbox’s Phil Spencer said Microsoft plans to “treat Xbox gaming on Windows 10 with a passion and energy” equal to that of console gaming itself. Streaming of content will take place using a local network.

Said streaming functionality was shown off with Forza and Fable Legends, the latter of which will also be released as a cross-play title across Windows 10 PC and Xbox One.

Game DVR, a feature already found on the Xbox One, will be present in Windows 10, allowing gamers to “record, edit, and share game clips from digital gaming services”. This was demoed with Civilization: Beyond Earth via Steam.
