Report: 100,000 Xbox One consoles sold in China in first week on sale

Chinese news site 17173 (as translated by Kotaku) is reporting that Microsoft has sold 100,000 Xbox One consoles in its first week on sale in the country.

Shanghai Media Group Vice President Zhang Dazhong revealed the figure in the 17173 report as well as advising that Microsoft’s Chinese partner BesTV hopes to sell 10 million units in China over the next 12 months.

The Xbox One was released in China 29 September, two days prior to the nation’s Golden Week holiday. Xbox One is the first foreign console to be sold in the region following the Chinese Government’s lifting of its 14 year console ban in January.

The sales figures in China are significantly improved over those of Japan for the Xbox One launch week.  Could China be the saving grace for the Xbox One in Asia?
