Destiny sales top $325 million worldwide in first five days

Last week, Activision announced that Destiny had shipped over $500 million worth to retail, but didn’t elaborate on just exactly how that translated into sales. Now, the publisher has revealed that the “shared-world shooter”/MMO has topped $325 million in sales, worldwide, in the first five days following release.

Activision also revealed that players had logged over 100 million hours in game in the first week along with 137 million activities (whatever that means) having been participated in. Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said “Destiny is a platform that will grow and evolve and we will continue to work closely with our partners at Bungie to bring a long line of new experiences and content to life in the game,”

Destiny has been polarising fans and critics alike. Our review likened Destiny to a watermelon, “all show, but lacking substance. Moreover, it’s fun to eat, but won’t fill you up.” We liked it, but felt that it was lacking something.

Destiny is available now for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
