Black Market, in-game currency added to Titanfall; still no microtransactions

An update to Titanfall has added an in-game currency system and a Black Market where players can purchase Burn Cards and Titan Insignia.

Respawn’s David Shaver took to Titanfall’s website to make the announcement. Players will be able to purchase a range of Burn Card packs including a Standard Pack, Weapons Pack, Ordnance Pack, Premium Pack and more. The only way to purchase the packs is by spending credits which are earned through playing Titanfall. A Standard Pack costs 5,000 credits and contains six random cards.

Credits will be awarded to players for match completion, match victory, daily challenges and other miscellany. Match completion will net players 500 credits, victory awards 250 and daily challenges like first win of the day award 1,000. Players can also sell unwanted Burn Cards back to the Black Market to earn extra credits.

The Black Market is open to all players once they reach level 11 and unlock Burn Cards. Once players reach level 50 a percentage of XP earned will be converted into credits, however Respawn haven’t revealed what the percentage is at this stage.

Shaver stressed that Respawn are not introducing real world payments for the Black Market saying, “We have stated several times that Titanfall will not have micro-transactions. Fear not, for we plan to keep that promise – NO MICROTRANSACTIONS! The only way to get Credits is by playing the game.”

Titanfall is available now for Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
