Battlefield 4 to receive netcode patch this week

According to the official Battlefield 4 Blog, the game will be getting a netcode patch this week that’s expected to improved performance on all platforms.

The patch goes live on PS3, Xbox 360 and Windows PC from today, and later in the week for PS4 and Xbox One.

Current-gen platforms will also receive the “High Frequency Bubble”, which should also help improve performance.

“Within a certain radius of the player, we add the possibility to update the clients at a higher rate from the server,” DICE said of the feature. “What this essentially means is that the server will update the client on what is happening more often than before. This normally results in a smoother, more ‘correct’ player experience.”

High Frequency Bubble is off by default because it’s fairly bandwidth intensive. Players can choose to turn it on and set it to low, medium or high performance.

More details of the netcode patch can be found via the announcement post.
