Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition DLC won’t transition from GFWL to Steamworks

Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition is being transitioned from Games for Windows Live (GFWL) to Steamworks on 30 May, and players with any DLC for the GFWL version will lose it in the process, Capcom today announced.

Those who wish to transition between the GFWL and the Steamworks version of SSFIV: AC can do so for free. If you downloaded the game via Steam, you can automatically download the new Steamworks version. For those with retail copies, you’ll have to input your GFWL product key into the “Activate a product on Steam” text box to then get access to the download.

Those who don’t wish to transition can continue playing GFWL “for the foreseeable future,” Capcom’s Senior Online Community Specialist Peter Rosas said in a Capcom Unity post.

Rosas also advised that any GFWL DLC will not carry over onto the Steamworks version of the game. It appears for the moment that gamers will have to repurchase any DLC they’d like to own in the new version of the title, regardless of whether or not it was purchased via Steam in the first place.

We’ll keep you posted with any developments.
