Special Vivillon coming to Pokémon X & Y after 100 million global trades

In Pokémon X & Y, bug Pokémon Vivillon has 15 different patterns on its wings based on the region that a player is in. Completionists have been trading non-stop since the launch of Pokémon X & Y in order to lock down every variety with over 90 million trades completed using the Global Trade System.

Nintendo has now announced that once 100 million trades have been completed a special Vivillon featuring a “Fancy Pattern” will become available for all players. The announcement reads, “This newly discovered Vivillon breaks with that tradition: it will become available to Pokémon fans across the globe once the 100 millionth Pokémon is traded via the GTS. When this enormous milestone is reached, a special distribution event will take place, enabling all players of Pokemon X or Pokemon Y to receive the Fancy Pattern Vivillon wherever they are in the world!”

Pokémon X & Y are available exclusively for 3DS.
