2014 may only be 20 weeks old, but so far more games have been released on Steam in those weeks than in all of 2013.
The increase is due largely to Steam’s Greenlight program and month on month the number of games released in 2014 has been increasing. Gamasutra noticed the staggering increase and the changes to the front page of Steam which now features “Top Sellers” rather than “New Releases.”
Valve has signaled its desire to dissolve Greenlight entirely as it strives to make Steam a more open platform where any developer can publish a game with Steam acting as the curator.
