Nintendo once again opts for a non-traditional approach to E3

Nintendo has announced that, for the second year running, it will be hosting a non-traditional form of press conference and instead will host a Nintendo Direct and a range of livestreamed demos.

At E3 2013 Nintendo eschewed an in-person press conference in favour of a Nintendo Direct stream which is now the Japanese publisher’s preferred method of revealing their biggest news. The various livestreamed videos are being called the Nintendo Digital Event which is described as “a new kind of video program that will reveal and provide further detail about the gaming experiences on the way for Nintendo platforms in 2014 and beyond.” The Nintendo Digital Event will commence 9 a.m. PT 10 June (2 a.m. AEST, 11 June).

Nintendo has also launched its very own Nintendo @ E3 website for 2014 which gives more information on the event. It appears that Smash Bros. is the game that will get the most attention at this stage, but there are sure to be some surprises in store.
