Foxtel Play coming to PlayStation 3 today, PlayStation 4 to follow soon

A series of tweets that have been retweeted by Content Services Manager for PlayStation Australia Adam Renardson suggest that Foxtel Play will be available for PlayStation 3 today, with the service making its way to the PlayStation 4 in the near future.

The Foxtel Play website has also been updated and includes a “How To” page for setting up the service on a PlayStation 3. The “How To” page contains the wording “Our technology team is currently working to bring you Foxtel Play on PlayStation 4.  Stay tuned…”

To use Foxtel Play on a PlayStation 3 you need an internet connection, an Australian PSN account and a Foxtel Play account. Simply go to the TV/Video services section of the Cross Media Bar and download the Foxtel Play app. Sign in with your Foxtel Play account and you’re good to go.

Foxtel Play has been available for Xbox 360, PC, Mac, Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-ray players and LG Smart TVs for some time and now expands onto the PlayStation platform.

Will you use Foxtel Play on your PS3?

Update: Sony Australia has now confirmed these details.

“Whether it’s music, TV, movies or games, PlayStation fans love all forms of digital entertainment and we remain committed to delivering the most immersive digital entertainment experiences on our platforms through PlayStation Network,” said Michael Ephraim, Managing Director, Sony Computer Entertainment Australia. “Foxtel Play is a fantastic addition to our suite of entertainment services, one that all the family can enjoy.”

Rohan Lund, Foxtel’s Chief Operating Officer, said, “We’re thrilled to continue our drive to expand availability of Foxtel Play for Australian subscribers. With the addition of PS3, that expansion just got a massive boost for the 2 million Australians already enjoying great digital experiences on their PlayStation 3 consoles. Today that experience gets even better.”

Foxtel Play starts at $25 AUD a month, with additional content packs costing another $25 AUD per month. Game of Thrones is part of the movie pack, including Showcase, meaning you’re up for $50 AUD if you’re looking to stream season four.
