Steamworks developers now have the ability to discount their own titles

A post on the Steam subreddit has announced that Steamworks developers are no longer beholden to Valve and the annual Steam sales if they want to discount their own titles. An update to Steamworks allows developers to start their own sales by setting the level of discount and duration of time it will be applied.

If a developer chooses to to join one of the regular week-long Steam sales, they will still be able to set the price. “With new Steamworks tools, you can configure your own discounts for custom sale periods or opt in to take part in upcoming weeklong sales. Once configured, the discounts will automatically start at the time specified,” reads the post on Reddit.

I guess there’s nowhere safe for our wallets now.
