Sony announces a new (colourful) PS Vita model for Japan

At today's Sony Japan pre-TGS press conference, a new -- and colourful -- PS Vita.

The new PS Vita will be 20% thinner and 15% lighter, according to the press conference. It will be available in six colours: pink, yellow, grey, white, brown and black.

The new handheld has a 1GB build-in memory card and its battery will apparently last an extra hour, with Sony claiming it contains six hours of use in one charge.

Strangely, the new Vita will also drop its AMOLED screen in favour of an LCD one.

The new PS Vita will be available in Japan on 10 October, at a price of ¥18,980.

We've no word yet if the new model PS Vita will be available in Australia.
