Wii U development not a priority for Bethesda

Bethesda have revealed that development for Wii U is not a priority, reports Joystiq.

Speaking with Joystiq at QuakeCon, Bethesda VP of PR and marketing Pete Hines said, “None of the game’s we’ve announced are being developed for the Wii U, so it’s guaranteed that none of those games are coming to Wii U.” He’s referring to The Elder Scrolls OnlineWolfenstein: The New Order and The Evil Within. He added that in the short term Wii U development is simply “not on our radar.”

When questioned as to why the Wii U was being left out Hines said “It’s largely a hardware thing”. He explained that Bethesda “make the games that we want to make, on whatever platforms will support them as developed.” A potential Xbox 360 version of The Elder Scrolls Online was cited as an example with Hines saying it “just wasn’t possible” due to the limitations of the Xbox 360’s hardware.

The future of Bethesda games on Nintendo’s console remains unclear with Hines stating, “it remains to be seen what the future holds.” As Joystiq note, the approach from Bethesda differs from other publishers who’ve cited lackluster sales and market share as reasons to shy away from Wii U development.

Sorry Wii U fans, the bad news just keeps coming.
