A “major update” to come every three months for A Realm Reborn

Producer and Director of Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, Naoki Yoshida  spoke with the PlayStation Blog and revealed that the game would receive “a major update every three months.”

Yoshida told the Blog that the updates would be released “once the game has been released” and that Square Enix would be “continuously adding large-scale content.” He added that “Ongoing support for the game will be included in the monthly subscription.”

The first update for the game is already well under development at Square Enix and will be released with patch 2.1.  The first update will feature “a large-scale housing system” and the first lot of PvP dubbed “The Wolves Den.” Yoshida mentioned that Square Enix has, “long-term plans to release full expansion packs, so watch out for future updates on those, too.”

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is available for PC and PS3 today. It will be released for PS4 in 2014.
