Xbox Live Games with Gold are scheduled for the 1st and 16th of each month

Microsoft's new "Games with Gold" promotion -- which offers Gold subscribers two free games per month until the end of the year -- has now been given scheduled dates. New games will be available to download on the 1st and 16th of every month.

Fable III was the first game on offer and Microsoft have revealed that Halo 3 and Assassin's Creed II are the freebies for July. The Games with Gold page on the Xbox website reads;

As our way of saying thanks, we’re giving all active Gold members two bonus Xbox 360 games each month for the rest of the year. Each specially selected, fan-favourite game will be available to download only for a limited time, so grab them before they’re gone and keep them no matter what.

So what do you think? It's definitely a good thing, but are the game selections worth it and more importantly how does it far when compared to PlayStation Plus?
