No PSN games or saves on PlayStation 4… yet.

Speaking with Engadget, Sony chief Shuhei Yoshida spoke frankly about downloadable PlayStation Network games and their compatibility with the PlayStation 4. He revealed that PSN gamed won’t natively transfer onto PS4 and that Sony have nothing set as yet regarding workarounds.

Yoshida also spoke with Joystiq and when asked if PSN data would simply transfer to PS4 he answered,  “No. Unless, somehow, some games work on emulation. The easiest thing technically would be to make PSone games work on PS4 through emulation. But we aren’t talking about our emulation plans as yet. There are two ways: emulation or cloud service. But native support, no, sorry. We could do so if we choose to. We know who purchased what as a record. But we are working on service plans, and we haven’t decided.”

In the reveal of the PS4 yesterday, Sony announced that the PS4 would not play PSone, PS2 or PS3 discs, but would instead stream previous-gen games as a workaround for backwards compatibility.
