THQ’s assets up for auction 22 Jan; EA joins list of publishers after specific IP

Hot on the heels of yesterday’s reports, Distressed Debt Investing has tweeted today that an auction for individual THQ assets will take place on 22 January.

“Parties have come to agreement: THQ auction now on Jan 22nd,” confirmed DDI, addind, “The auction will allow for piecemeal (“title by title”) sales of THQ assets.”

With this news also comes word that another triple-A publisher is interested in acquiring specific THQ IP. DDI also tweeted that “EA, a potential buyer of certain titles has completed site visits.” EA joins Warner Bros. and Ubisoft as publishers who have publically expressed interest in IP from the bankrupt THQ.

Would you be interested in Saints Row as developed by BioWare? If not, what would you like EA to pick up in this auction?

I hope they pick up the developers along with the IP, I want another Volition Saints Row and more Relic 40K.

Just because EA can buy all the things, doesn’t mean they should.

Focus on good game development and customer services on what they al ready have, then once that’s done they can be sure of acquiring new IP without wrecking it.
