Dead Space 3 comes complete with four extra game modes; achievement list now available

The Dead Space 3 developer blog has just unveiled details of four additional game modes that will unlock after playing through the game until completion.

The modes that are available after you’ve run through the game once include New Game Plus, Classic, Pure Survival and Hardcore.

New Game Plus lets you tackle the game with all of your previous weaponry and stats. Classic mode is single-player only, uses classic aiming and requires players to build weapons from blueprints… so it simulates a traditional Dead Space 1 experience.  Pure Survival mode has an emphasis on resource management; item drops are removed and only enemies will drop resources. Hardcore mode is much like the same mode in Dead Space 2, in that it grants players one life for the entire campaign.

Addtionally, the title’s achievement list has been leaked. Spoiler-laden, of course, the list is as follows:

The list above means you’ll need to complete Dead Space 3 at least four times — once to get the different modes, and then three additional times using Hardcore, Classic and Survival modes — to obtain all of the in-game achievements.

Is this sounding like a fun challenge, or a way to artificially extend gameplay? Personally, I’m livid at this achievement list. I’m quite proud to say I have all the achievements in Dead Space and Dead Space 2, but I simply don’t have the time to play this title through four complete times. What do you think?
