Remember Me originally set for PS3 exclusivity

Remember Me – the action-adventure from Dontnod Entertainment – was initially to be published by Sony. Jean-Maxine Moris – co-founder of Dontnod – told CVG about the stages Remember Me had gone through during development.

Remember Me had entered full production in 2010 and according to Moris, the team were in talks with Sony about the project all the way back in 2008. “The deal with Sony ended early 2011” says Moris “for their own internal reasons, Sony had to cut a number of projects. And we were just part of that. Honestly there was no ill-will, there was no division; we just had to go our own separate ways.”

Moris adds regarding the split from Sony, “In retrospect, it was probably a good thing. The game’s idea had evolved with Sony’s input – I was fine with walking away from it. With Sony out of the picture we brought the concept back to how we intended it to be.”

After the split from Sony, Dontnod stopped pitching the game and instead focused on development as they had financial support  from an investor.

Following Gamescon 2011 – where Dontnod had pitched the game along with a teaser and concept art – four separate publishing offers were made. Capcom was eventually chosen as the home for Remember Me. “We chose Capcom because it was the most enthusiastic and respectful towards the ideas of the project,” says Moris.

Remember Me will be available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 May 2013.
