With Halo 4 just around the corner, Microsoft and 343 Industries yesterday announced the “War Games Map Pass,” which will give you a 15% discount on the game’s first three map packs.

Totalling $24.99 USD (or 2,000 Microsoft Points), the “War Games Map Pass” grants you access to the first three “War Games” map packs as they become available in December, February and April. The “Map Pass” means you’ll save 15% versus purchasing the maps individually. In addition, Map Pass purchasers will receive two bonus in-game helmets, as well as a unique in-game emblem.

Here are more details on the three packs:

  • Crimson Map Pack (December release timeframe) — includes Wreckage, Harvest and Shatter maps
  • Majestic Map Pack (February release timeframe) — includes Landfall, Monolith and Skyline maps
  • Castle Map Pack (April release timeframe) — includes Daybreak, Outcast and Perdition maps

The exclusive in-game helmets — ‘Scanner’ and ‘Strider’ — feature “new geometry, and an exclusive in-game emblem (‘Falcon’),” confirmed 343.

Those who purchase the exclusive Halo 4 console bundle get this “Map Pass” for free.
