After a strong E3 showing, Hawken aims to impress

If you’re a fan of mech shooters you would no doubt have noticed the stellar reception Hawken received at E3 this year. Winning awards such as “best of indie”, “best free-to-play” and many “editor’s choice” awards, it caught the attention of many outside its target audience.

From Meteor Entertainment and Adhesive Games, Hawken is a free-to-play first person mech shooter which utilises the Unreal 3 engine. It’s set in a dystopian future amongst ruined cities, destroyed by corruption and greed, in which survivors battle for resources. It’s being sold as a hardcore vs multiplayer title with state-of-the-art visuals and versatile customisation options.

The online multiplayer market is a tough nut to crack though so the question remains; do Adhesive Games have what it takes to build a successful and profitable gaming experience? Have a look at these videos they sent us and see if it piques your interest.

If you want to try it out, you can apply for a spot in a closed beta via the Hawken website. The full game isn’t due for release until the end of this year, but don’t let that stop you getting in there and giving the game a good thrashing.

Dave Haldane

There are two things I love in life... video games and my family. I work full time as an IT manager to provide for my wife, three kids and a heavy gaming habit. I own almost every console since the Atari 7800 and am proud of my extensive collection of games.

I'm more of a single or coop player but I do dabble in multiplayer on the odd occasion. If you want to have a game or just chat feel free to add me, PM me or email me.
