Court case outs the Activision/Bungie collaboration code-named “Destiny”; new Marathon project too

Well, Bungie isn’t involved in a lawsuit between former Infinity Ward heads and Activision, but Activision sure is (obviously). As such, details of Bungie’s plans with Activision have now come to light and have been shared for all the world to see. Sucks to be Bungie right now.

In documents made public and posted by the LA Times, Bungie and Activision are working together to create four “sci-fantasy, action shooter games” in a project that has been code-named “Destiny.”

The documents continue to state that the first of these four games will be an Xbox 360 exclusive (or on its successor, depending on timing) in Spring 2013. Sequels would then be made available on Xbox (or its successor), PS3 (or its successor) and PC, spaced over 2015, 2017 and 2019. The documents even go into detail on four DLC expansion packs, code-named “Comet.” Those would be published Spring 2014, 2016, 2018 and lastly in 2020.

In far more interesting news, the contract also allows Bungie the right to place five percent of its staff on the development team for a game referred to as “Marathon.” Bungie fans would be very familiar with past Marathon titles (and if not, you probably have encountered Marathon unknownly throughout the Halo franchise; look into it.).

Lastly, the contract also outlines rules governing how many Bungie staff can work on Bungie.Net, Halo Reach DLC, or other projects.

What are you most excited about from all this, gamers? A new Bungie IP? A new Marathon? More Reach DLC? You tell us.
