Valve-developed Steam Mobile app available on Android, iOS

First, Microsoft brought Xbox Live to iPhone and iPad, and now Valve is doing the same with its Steam platform, also adding Android to the mix.

From today, the beta-version of Valve's Steam Mobile app is available for both iOS and Android. The application allows for user-to-user chat, browsing of syndicated news, groups, profiles and you can also purchase games without the need of a PC.

Valve President Gabe Newell said the app was made purely due to demand. "Mobile is changing the way people interact, play games and consume media, and the Steam app is part of our commitment to meet customer demands and expand the service functionality of Steam to make it richer and more accessible for everyone," Newell said.
